Strawberry Shortcake 2 Ways – be #PartyReddi

Coryanne Ettiene · July 8, 2020 · Leave a Comment

Certain elements hint to a big celebration, every family has their special touches that turn children into excitement charged little bees buzzing around practically giddy with anticipation. For me, that was a can of whipped cream. The moment I would open the fridge door and see that bright red top my heart would nearly burst from happiness while I let dreams of whipped cream swirl in my head. Even today as an adult, the sound of that ever so soft whiz of the whipped cream streaming from the can makes my heart skip a beat, is there anything more symbolic of a children’s party than whipped cream? It is this love of my childhood memories that has me partnering with Reddi-wip® on their summer #PartyReddi promotion.

And what’s summer party without fresh strawberries? My favorite, and oh so easy recipe for strawberry shortcake is to give them a mini makeover by stacking them and popping them in the freezer. Frozen shortcake bites… oh yes darlings, that is what dreams are made of, especially with a dollop of whipped cream. So easy that I frequently leave it to the children to make, mind you a few do go missing in production.

To make these cute little stacks, just slice the berries across the waist (so that the whole of the berry appears in the center), cut small squares of angel food cake, and then stack them together with a bright and festive paper straw. Once you have the stacks, place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper in the freezer for up to an hour and then place them on a cake stand for serving. Once the party begins, serve with a small bowl of whipped cream for dipping. Or for an even quicker birthday treat, add a slice of berry and a slice of angel food cake to a serving spoon, and top with whipped cream…because let’s face it, sometimes you just don’t have time to hang out with the freezer.

Time is rarely on my side, so one stop shopping is a always an added bonus. My Walmart shopping trolley was a tribute to all things birthday party…pretty little straws, fresh produce, whipped cream and thanks to the bakery section at Walmart, a fabulous angel food cake too.

See that fun red button on the side of the can? It’s magical. Participating cans of Reddi-wip have those magical red buttons, all you need to do is enter the code on your can to help feed a child in need. Learn more about it here and help spread the love.

Using Reddi-wip as a staple for your party helps give you “more party for less”, and since they use real dairy cream as their number one ingredient, they make a creamy alternative to oil based toppings. So “share the joy!” and make it part of your next birthday celebration. And what’s a party without a little spending money?
