Two Fresh Spring Cocktail Recipes

April, 2013 · By Coryanne Ettiene

I love my job.  It is true that if you do what you love, you will love what you do, and this past week I sang this song over and over again while hosting the California Giant Fresh Berries Spring Entertaining Bootcamp at GE Monogram for the Urban Girls Squad in New York City.  I spent the evening hosting a fabulous group of 20/30 something NYC ladies eager to roll up their sleeves and learn how to make pies, mix cocktails and entertain in style this spring.   From fresh strawberry Daiquiris to Berry Vodka Lemonade, and a whole host of fresh berry pie recipes from my iFood.TV Cooking with Coryanne series, we sipped, noshed and laughed all night long. And despite how it may look…I was not belting out a tune, but offering sure fire tips on how to entertaining with a big impact in a small urban space.

Thirty for a few fresh spring ideas?  Sip on these darlings….According to the ladies, they really know how to kick start a party.

Roasted Mixed Berry Lemonade: Roast the berries the night before, allow them to chill and then mix them in to a tall pitcher with all the ingredients listed below. As with all things lemonade, taste it and add more simple syrup or lemon to please your tastes.   Makes 8 cocktails.

•  8 ounces of Vodka
• 3 Cups of roasted California Giant berries
• 8 lemons
• 32-48 ounces of water
• 8 ounces of simple syrup
• Ice

Fresh Strawberry Daiquiri: Blend all ingredients in a blender and serve garnished with a fresh strawberry.  The result should be a thick, dark pink blend zippy with citrus but sweet with strawberries and mellowed by the rum.  Makes 8 cocktails.

• 8 ounces of Light Rum
• 2 ounces of fresh lime juice
• 1 ounce of simple syrup
• 24 standard sized fresh California Giant strawberries
• Granulated sugar for the rim
• Ice for blending.
