Cooking with Coryanne Cherry Recipe Series
June, 2013 · By Coryanne Ettiene
Cherry season comes but once a year and it is one of those summer delights that has long since reminded me of my childhood…. of those days where I raced outside at the break of dawn, jumped on my bike and spent the day chasing mischief and building friendships that would span eternity. On those few occasions when I would return before dusk, it would be for the sole purpose of raiding the fridge. And no where were those raids more fruitful than when cherry season arrived. Each time I see the start of cherry season, I think of the pig tailed little girl with scrawny legs and dirt in her nails, feverishly enjoying a bag of fresh cherries while she spilled secrets with her friends, and tried in vain to win the cherry pit spitting contest.
In the spirit of my childhood and the summers that have passed, my latest Cooking with Coryanne iFood.TV series for Stemilt captures everything I love about the sweet cherry delights that have made my summers memorable. From sweet and spicy Cherry Chipolte BBQ Sauce, to simple Bourbon cherry punch, there is a recipe for everyone, all the way down to an everyday family brunch to a festive 4th of July party. Watch me make the Cherry Chipolte BBQ Sauce below, or watch the full series here.
I loved working with Stemilt on this series, not just because it brought back so many fond childhood memories, but because there is nothing more rewarding that working with a family owned farm; knowing that each cherry is picked by hand makes the meal that little bit more personal, and all the more appreciated.
With the cherry season in full swing, knowing how to buy and store your fresh cherries could not be more important. For cherry tips and more fabulous cherry recipes, download the free Stemilt Cherry Booklet here and use #FreshStem to tag your cherry recipes on Facebook and Twitter.
