I have spent the last week playing in the garden, and trying to figure out what to do with all the mint that is growing wild in the borders of the property. Cocktails seemed like an obvious solution, and so did ice tea, but alas, my window for cocktails is so small and the children won’t drink anything but milky hot English tea. The house has been a virtual open door this past week, our lovely neighbors have been coming by to welcome us to the community, and with so many fabulous people surrounding us, we decided to make it official and bring everyone to ours for a day relaxing in the garden….the perfect excuse to put all that mint to use.

Today we hosted our first playdate in the new house. There is something fabulous and heart warming about seeing your children laugh around a kitchen table with new friends. When we arrived last week play dates were a high priority for us, our home was build for entertaining and it seemed a waist to hold off until everything is magazine ready. Rather than dazzle our guests with our box free home, we opted to wiggle our way into their hearts with fabulous food and drinks….Not knowing the food allergies I opted for a universal smoothie of mint, bananas and Coconut Silkology. Never has my blender worked so hard in a few short hours. We blended, drank, and giggled on repeat until their parents arrived, and then I blended, splashed vodka, drank and giggled some more.
Watching the children play with new friends, making new friends of my own and feeling the fabric of our new house quickly evolve into a home filled with memories and laughter has me excited about our next chapter in Seattle. As I really have little time to complete the unpacking before our play date next week, I will most certainly be calling on the talents of Bryan Daton of Silkolgy to inspire the next round of play date mocktails and cocktails.
